• Deportees en route to their country of origin via South African ports of entry must be in possession of transit visas. Applications for such visas must be made at the South African Consulate in New York.

  • The transit visas will only be issued once the departure on an onward flight has been confirmed for which tickets were booked.¬†

  • Departure must be within one day of arrival in the transit area.

  • The deportee must be escorted from the time of arrival at the South African port until their departure.

  • When groups are to be deported, only two persons or one family unit may be issued with transit visas at a time.¬† Subsequent transit visas must be delayed until the preceding group has finally departed from the transit area.
